Let's Get Healthy!</rss:title><rss:link>http://www.healthnutritiontotalsolutions.com/kids-lets-get-healthy/2009/4/29/hey-kids-lets-get-healthy.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Let's go back five or six decades when there was no TV and computers and we would find the children playing outside at every opportunity!

Children in the suburbs would be playing cricket or basball in the streets with their neighbours.

They would play 'chasey' or 'hide and seek'!

Do you hear these games mentioned now?

Children in the country would have their chores as well as the opportunity to play in the open spaces or ride their horse.

They would BE ACTIVE!

The weekends would involve taking part in the local sports teams.

Some children still do that but many are 'couch potatoes'!

To be Healthy children have to be active.

The activity is not only great for their growing bodies but also for their healthy minds.

They learn to socialise by being active and involved with others.

They build coping skills by playing with other children and having to sort out issues that may arise.

FOOD! Food plays are BIG part in keeping children healthy!

There must be a balance of what is put in the mouth and how much activity children do.

They must get enough to supply their growing bodies but it must provide the right nutrition!

Today we overload children with far too much SUGAR!

Cereals become sugar in their bodies.

It is energy which is not always burnt off due to the lack of activity by many children.

I am privileged to look after my grand children from time to time and I only give them water to drink.

I give them fresh, raw fruit and vegetables and a small amount of organic meat preferably fish or chicken.

They know all soft/soda/juice drinks are pure sugar so they know they are not healthy.

Kids need plenty of SLEEP!

Late nights interrupt their growth pattern so a regular bed time between 6.30 and 7.30 pm should be established.

Children need boundaries in life.

They need to be taught manners and to respect each other

I am a teacher and I know a happy child needs to feel safe and be respected.

They need LOVE and they want to give love!

We all love to be praised so praise when it is due and encourage kids at all times to help them live happy and joyful lives!

Remember kids need ACTIVITY,HEALTHY FOOD and WATER,PLENTY of SLEEP and

LOTS and LOTS of LOVE!!
